This is heavily cropped. I was just amazed to stumble upon them when I had never seen such a bird in Sarnia before.. I think seeing these on almost my first outing has hooked me for good.

Finding a focus .......

As I started to slide towards retirement I am cutting back on my working hours., I found myself with more time to do one of the things I enjoy most,  photography. Going out for an hour or two, hoping to find 'a good photograph' didn't seem to work for me. Now, when I can go out for 4 or six hours at a time, I felt I needed a focus - excuse the pun.
I joined Lambton Wildlife to see what they were up to, with a view to perhaps joining in on some field trips. At my first meeting they were selling pocket-sized Photo field guides that dealt with just Southwestern Ontario. A browse through a couple of them showed me the range of wildlife that existed on my own doorstep if I just got out there and looked.

So, I decided my focus would be birds and dragonfly's. After 6 weeks it is working just fine.

Using LW's downloaded list of Conservation areas and other places where wildlife can be seen, I am out in the county seeing places and things I had no idea even existed. The first few postings here will be sharing what I have seen so far ...... and I am really happy with what I have seen already. Things that have been all around me all along, if I had only taken the time to stop and look,.
