This weekend was a mixed bag of animals and birds.
A ground-hog crossed my path, literally.





 

 Later a blue Heron decided to look for food elsewhere

 .... and at home some Racoons have decided to set up home nearby. There is a family of four parading across my back fence most nights but this evening they came out earlier and played hide-go-seek in some evergreens.

I had trouble naming this because of the pattern of yellow lines on the dorsal wings. Most pictures I found seemed to have predominantly yellow wings or yellow 'spots' all along the trailing edge. Afer a while I came across one very similar so I guess the colour/line combinations must vary. If anyone can answer that please posta comment.

I tried to photograph this hairy wee-beastie last year but failed - though I could see enough to find out what it was.
This year I staked out the Butterfly Bush and my patience was rewarded.
